About the Cunninghams

Earl and Sara Cunningham spent many of their retirement years as tutors in the school-age child care program at Thea Bowman House. They were there each and every day.

Sara worked with the younger children and her greatest joy was to watch the children improve in reading. As an elementary school teacher, Sara knew the importance of literacy.

Earl took on the challenges of the ever-changing world of math, science, and social studies, working with middle school and high school students.

The Cunninghams saw firsthand that Thea Bowman House students had the same hopes and dreams as other students but often lacked the resources to follow those dreams.
