The Cunningham Scholarship Fund
The Cunningham Fund is a college scholarship available to alumni of Thea Bowman House programs. We currently have 3 scholarships of $2,350 for the spring 2020 semester.
For consideration, applications must be submitted by October 28th.
About the Cunninghams
Earl and Sara Cunningham spent many of their retirement years as tutors in the school age child care program at Thea Bowman House. They were there each and every day.
Sara worked with the younger children and her greatest joy was to watch the children improve in reading. As an elementary school teacher, Sara knew the importance of literacy.
Earl took on the challenges of the ever changing world of math, science and social studies, working with middle school and high school students.
The Cunninghams saw first hand that Thea Bowman House students had the same hopes and dreams as other students but often lacked the resources to follow those dreams.
Criteria
The successful applicant will be a high school graduate who has benefited from the programs of the Thea Bowman House. The candidate must have been accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution that the student will be attending.
